Saturated fat burners
Saturated fat burners.
By Nick Lynch S.S.C, C.F.T.
We cringe at the word “saturated” knowing that soon after we will hear “fats.” Saturated fats are perhaps more feared than a mountain lion attack. Why? We hear that they are bad, they clog arteries, cause heart attacks and worst of all, fat gain! The point of this article here is to learn about healthy saturated fats. A calorie is not just a calorie as a fat is not just a fat. We first need to learn the source of these fats, where did they come from? How were the animals treated? How do I know if I am eating safe saturated fats? We all have felt or feel that saturated fats are indeed the root of all evil. Now lets learn how saturated fats can be good for your body with proper preparation and the best way to identify what’s what!
Saturated fats need to come from a good source and the source will typically be from animals. You can also consume saturated fats from tropical oils. In order to safely eat these fats make sure the source you are eating is safe. Find cows that are eating rapidly growing grass and hay in the winter. Tropical oils such as palm and coconut can be particularly good for fat loss, energy and mineral absorption. Coconut oil is primarily made up of medium chain fatty acids; these acids go right to your liver and get stored as energy, not fat. Eating a couple tablespoons of coconut oil a day in replace of canola, soy, corn, safflower and other vegetable oils can give you a huge boost in your health.
Medium chain and short chain saturated fats protect us from harmful microorganisms in the digestive tract and therefore will boost your immune system. These fats do not need to be acted on by the bile salts; therefore, they are quickly absorbed and released as energy. More energy from fat means more energy for activities, productivity, family and less time in the hospital.
A few benefits from eating saturated fats:
-Saturated fats make up at least 50% of the cell membranes, which in return gives our cells their necessary stiffness and integrity.
-Bone strength comes from calcium, calcium is absorbed by having a minimum of 50% saturated fats in our diets.
- Lower levels of Lp(a), which is a substance in the blood that indicates proneness to heart disease.
-Provide protection from toxins like alcohol, Tylenol and many others.
-Enhance the immune system.
- 18-carbon stearic acid and 16-carbon palmitic acid are the primary fats found around your heart, these fats are saturated. The heart draws upon these reserves in times of stress.
-26% of a clogged artery is saturated while the rest is unsaturated fats with over 50% being polyunsaturated. (Soy, canola, corn and other vegetable oils/margarine and spreads.)
So if clogged arteries are primarily unsaturated fats, and saturated fats cause us to absorb important minerals, burn fat and have an immune system that can help us fight off swine flu, why are we lead a stray? The answer is simple, politics.
The cost is greater to import such foods as organic coconut oils and the profit is less off a small grass fed farm. McDonalds and it’s investors cannot wait for a farm that grass feeds their 40 steer to grow up and produce the amount of meat they are looking for when they can go to a 10,000 steer grain fed farm. Grain will fatten up the steer quick and get them ready for consumption in half the amount of time.
The solution: Find local grass fed farms and grass fed products.
You can find pasture butter by Organic Valley, yogurt by 7 stars almost anywhere in the country. Supplements are available through the Internet and most health food stores. Below you will see some links to these products and directories for local farms in your area. Check out your local coop or health food store and get started on a better food for you and the environment. I guess you could say this way of eating is going “green.”
