Kyle's Race Event Wrap Up!
Kyle's Race A Huge Success!
Kyle’s Race 5k run/walk on Sunday May 23rd, 2010 was a huge success. Not only was the weather superb, the events flow was continuous thanks to a large volunteer group of 27. Runners and walkers took off at 12:10 pm on east street in Vergennes tackling a 3.2 mile route that was guided in the front by the imsuperb.com prius and in the back by cyclist and owner of Black Diamond Sports Wear, Gary Guggemos. Somewhere in the mix was Kyle who ended up finishing 20th overall. Nice going K-man!
Post race events included a raffle with over 40 gifts from local businesses, food from American Flatbread of Middlebury with their fire oven, Stone Leaf Tea House of Marbleworks, Honey Garden Apiaries, Deeter’s Bread, Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil and a 5 minute sell out of Nick ‘N Nat’s chocolate maple healthy ice cream.
Thanks to the work of imsuperb.com we were able to raise almost $9,000.00. Nick Lynch, owner of imsuperb.com and his fiancé Natalie Valente, Kyle’s nurse, spent the last 5 months working on this event everyday of the week and taking no money for payment, instead, all money truly has gone to the Kyle’s Race bank account and will end up in the hands of the Joshua Frase Foundation this week. The fruits showed on Sunday when over 250+ people showed up in support of Kyle Grant and the JFF. The greatest success of the event is Kyle’s happiness, as he could not believe how many people showed up in support of him.
So many people showing up and such good community support made this event possible. Vergennes Police Department and Chief Merkel were a huge help in getting permission to use the town as well as Vergennes Elementary School for allowing use of the grounds.
